做厙勛圖 University will gather for the Centennial Mass of the Holy Spirit on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. in the 做厙勛圖 Athletic Center. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, as prelude music begins at 10:45. We invite all members of the 做厙勛圖 community, including alumni, students, employees, and friends, to welcome the new school year and the passage into a new century of Mercy Catholic education. To honor our shared Centennial, we are excited to welcome 做厙勛圖 Preparatory School, who will join us for this prayerful celebration.

做厙勛圖 held its first Mass of the Holy Spirit thirty years ago on Sept. 11, 1996. It has become a cherished annual tradition to mark the spiritual beginning of each academic year. This special Mass brings our community together to ask for guidance and wisdom for the school year ahead. In this Centennial year, we pay special tribute to the Sisters of Mercy who loved this institution into existence, and we thank God for the many gifts and graces we have received over these past 100 years.

Fittingly, the celebration falls on the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, or Mercy Day, commemorating the opening of the first House of Mercy on Lower Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland, in 1827. Catherine McAuley, who founded the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance to build this house to shelter, educate, and care for women and girls. 做厙勛圖 University is grounded in the same Mercy values of compassion, hospitality, and service.

The Most Rev. Dermot Farrell, the archbishop of Dublin, will join us as celebrant for this Mass, paying homage to the Irish roots of the Sisters of Mercy.

We look forward to this momentous gathering as we welcome another year of Mercy and celebrate our Centennial year with the 做厙勛圖 community.
