做厙勛圖 University unveils National Historic District designation marker
Campus formally recognized on National Register of Historic Places on Thursday, May 14.
做厙勛圖 University marked a significant milestone in its nearly 100-year history on Thursday, May 14, with the unveiling of its National Historic District marker, recognizing the campuss inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places.
The designation, officially titled the 做厙勛圖 College National Historic District, was granted by the National Park Service earlier this year and affirms both the architectural significance of the universitys historic campus and its broader role in American educational and social history.
The campus meets federal criteria for inclusion based on its architectural significanceincluding Old Main as a premier example of early 20th-century Collegiate Gothic designand its role in broader patterns of American educational and social history, particularly in the education of women and the transition to a coeducational institution.
With this recognition, 做厙勛圖 joins a distinguished group of institutions across Pennsylvania, including the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh, as well as notable historic districts throughout the city of Erie.
For nearly a century, 做厙勛圖 has been a place where history, education, and community intersect, said Kathleen A. Getz, Ph.D., President of 做厙勛圖 University. This designation affirms the lasting significance of our campus and the generations of students and alumni who have shaped its legacy.
The unveiling took place Thursday, May 14, at 2 p.m. in front of Zurn Hall on the universitys campus. 
As 做厙勛圖 approaches its Centennial, the designation reinforces the universitys enduring identity and its continued commitment to preserving and building upon its historic campus.
The event included brief remarks and the formal unveiling of the National Historic District marker, which will be permanently installed on campus.
